Hello Everyone! My name is Alexia Dragon and I am currently a nursing student. I eventually plan on becoming a Certified Nurse Midwife. Ever since I was a young child I have been very fond of babies and their development. I myself was a premature neonate. I was born 4 weeks too early and had very high level of bilirubin in my system. I had to spend two weeks under a UV light to help absorb the bilirubin out of my system. Because I was premature, many of my organs had not fully matured. I was placed on breathing monitors for the first 6 months of my life to monitor my breathing and sleeping patterns. Eventually my body grew stronger and stronger and I became much healthier. My mother continues to tell me to this day how amazing the nurses were that took care of both my mother and I. This drives me to be the best, caring, and educated neonatal nurse that I can be. I eventually want to comfort the new parents and take care of their new bundle of joy, no matter how severe the case.
The birth of a child is both exciting and intimidating at the same time. A birth may or may not come easy with little to no problems and a healthy child goes home a few days later. A CNM often deals with normal, low risk pregnancies and oversees the development of the child from embryo to neonate. This blog will chronicle what to expect when pregnant and the processes that ensue.

Happy Reading!
